VERB TO BE


Hi Guys! 

Did you answers the questions of last class?! 
I hope yes! 
So, today I will talk about the verb to be (ser/estar).
In my opinion, the verb to be is the most important verb in English used on all moments, like now. 
  • Normal form:
I am (Eu sou)
You are (Você é)
He is (Ele é)
She is (Ela é)
It is (Ele/Ela é)
We are (Nós somos)
You are (Vocês são)
They are (Eles/Elas são)

  • Interrogative form:
Am I? (Sou eu?)
Are you? (É você?)
Is he? (É ele?)
Is she? (É ela?)
Is it (É ele/ela?)
Are we? (Somos nós?)
Are you? (São vocês?)
Are They? (São eles/elas?)

  • Negative form:
I am not (Eu não sou)
You are not (Você não é)
He is not (Ele não é)
She is not (Ela não é)
It is not (Ele/Ela não é)
We are not (Nós não somos)
You are not (Vocês não são)
They are not (Eles não são)

  • Contracted form (positive more negative):
I'm - I'm not 
You're - You aren't
He's - He isn't
She's - She isn't
It's - It isn't
We're - We aren't
You're - You aren't
They're - They aren't

Ex.:
I´m at home. (Estou em casa.)
Are you there? (Você tá aí?)
She's a really happy person. (Ela é muito feliz.)

Expressions:
How old are you? (Qual sua idade?)
What time is it? (Quantas horas?)
Are you sure? (Tem certeza?)
